“He’s a poor version of Neymar”
Memphis Depay’s stay at Manchester United appears to be all but over with the Dutchman set to be announced as a Lyon player in the coming hours.
Personal terms were agreed a couple of days ago between Depay and Lyon. Manchester United are set to receive around 25 million euros for the Dutch winger.
As he leaves England, Depay has been absolutely destroyed by former Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas, now a pundit for Sky Sports on Soccer Saturday.
“He’s a show pony”
According to Charlie Nicholas: “I would have chased him out last summer. He’s a show pony. He was only interested in the United image. Mourinho doesn’t do show ponies, just ask Joe Cole.”
Nicholas continues: “He’s a poor version of Neymar. When he does a trick he doesn’t even leave the player, he wants to stay and do another trick. What has surprised me is the amount of money they got back. It tells you a lot that no Premier League teams were interested in him.”
These quotes have already started to go viral in France, where Depay has a decent platform to relaunch his career.
