Arsenal leave three star players in England for Europa League clash

Injury blow

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the side have suffered an injury blow ahead of their Europa League clash with Ostersund.

The side have travelled to Sweden ahead of the clash but they have been stung by some injury problems.

They come in the form of blows to Jack Wilshere, Laurent Koscielny and Petr Cech who are all first-team regulars.

As expected, Aaron Ramsey has also not travelled having sustained a more long-term injury.

Though Arsene Wenger has also given an update on his fitness ahead of the Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City.

The French boss will certainly be hoping that the player could return in time and sounds pretty confident of that.

“Apart from that Wilshere, Koscielny, Cech have stayed behind. Everyone else has travelled,” he explained.

“One or two had recent problems. Koscielny with his Achille, Wilshere as well and I don’t know what the pitch is about.

“I wanted to rest Jack because he was sick several in the game against Spurs and felt he hadn’t fully recovered.

“Ramsey is a little bit of a sensitive case. He doesn’t move forward as quickly as I expected.

“Today I would say certainly he will not be available for the second game against Ostersund.

“Maybe for the cup final.”

Welbeck responsibility

With Alexandre Lacazette out with injury and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strangely cup-tied, it all falls on Danny Welbeck’s shoulders.

That is because it sounds as though Arsene Wenger is ready to play the Englishman on Thursday.

“It’s an opportunity for him to do well.I have seen today he is sharper than a long time.

“He had to wait a little to get back into the team, but that gave him time to work on his fitness.

“He looks sharper than he has in a long time – he looks very sharp.”
