Arsenal hold talks with Rennes over Ismaila Sarr transfer

Arsenal press on with summer transfer plans

Arsenal reportedly held talks with Rennes over the potential transfer of starlet Ismaila Sarr after their Europa League clash last week.

Sarr has taken the footballing world by storm over the past few months or so.

The Senegalese winger has impressed both in Ligue 1 and in the Europa League.

He particularly impressed when facing off against Arsenal last Thursday where he scored in the 88th minute.

Besides that, he has scored four goals in eight Europa League games and had an extremely successful World Cup.

Those World Cup performances even lead to reported interest from a whole host of European clubs.

Now, Arsenal look to have made the first move if the latest reports are to be believed.

Gunners hold talks with Rennes

According to Goal France, as cited by Get France Football news, Arsenal held talks with Rennes over a potential move for Sarr last Thursday.

It is said that ‘preliminary talks’ took place between the two sides following their Europa League clash in France.

Former Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is said to have been tracking the player before leaving but his departure has not stopped the Gunners from making their move.

Unfortunately, there is no indication of how much the player would cost or if talks progressed past the preliminary stage.

Regardless, it’s a big step towards a potentially huge transfer in the summer window.
