Arsenal handed Bruno Guimaraes boost as alternative payment method revealed

Arsenal need a midfielder

Arsenal are in desperate need of midfield additions, with only Charlie Patino and Sambi Lokonga, both still young and inexperienced, to call upon at present.

Ahead of the Nottingham Forest FA Cup defeat, Mikel Arteta suggested that players were incoming, revealing that:

“With the amount of things and the way we want to evolve the squad, we have to maximize every window in many different ways,”

“We are alert. Edu and his team are working very hard because we know exactly what we need to do. Whether we can accomplish that in January or in the summer is a different question related to other stuff but we are there.

“If it is the right player and we can afford it and we can do what we want to do, we will discuss it and make the best possible decision. We are open.”

And while a number of midfielders have been linked this window, it appears as though one of those favoured most is Brazilian Arthur, who could be available on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

But now, the Gunners may have been handed fresh hope in their pursuit of another target.

Bruno in?

According to Get French Football News, Lyon are keen to offload Bruno Guimaraes while his stock is high. 101 revealed earlier this month that a 45 million euro price-tag had been slapped on the Brazilian, with Arsenal and Juventus interested.

And now, it has been revealed that this sum could be paid either now or in six months, with Lyon willing to sanction a deal that would see an initial loan followed by an obligation to buy.

Should Arsenal be looking to keep their January powder dry for a striker (i.e. Dusan Vlahovic), this could prove the perfect situation.
