Arsene Wenger deserves a brilliant sending off from Arsenal fans according to Mark Lawrenson, who noted that while there are still some fans who don’t really like the manager anymore, he needs to be given all the available support on his last home game – and that if anyone felt it’s acceptable to boo the long serving manager, they need to think again.
“This is Arsene Wenger’s last home game as Arsenal boss and I am sure he will get the fantastic send-off he deserves after 22 years in charge,” Lawrenson said in his Premier League predictions.
“I am not being funny but if you are a Gunners fan and you go to this game and you boo him then there is something wrong with you.
“Everyone is entitled to moan, I get that, and I understand why some of them wanted him out.
“But if you consider what he has done for that football club then doing anything remotely negative on Sunday would be absolutely pathetic.”
There’s already been a huge amount of speculation over just who is set to be the next Arsenal manager, and it seems that another person connected with the club has put Patrick Vieira forward.
Robert Pires has noted he thinks the former midfielder is doing well in his first managerial gig, and deserves to be handed a chance to impress at Arsenal
He said: “I would like to see Patrick Vieira be given a chance at Arsenal, but I don’t think Mikel Arteta is ready.
“Vieira is doing a great job with New York City so he has an advantage over Arteta who is learning a lot from [Pep] Guardiola as his assistant, but doesn’t have the pressure of being manager.”
