Arsenal fans take aim at Arsene Wenger after Lacazette’s brace vs Germany

Supporters of Arsenal have this evening taken aim at Arsene Wenger and their club, following Alexandre Lacazette’s double versus Germany.

Les Bleus faced off with world champions Germany at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, with both sides having opted for strong starting XIs.

The likes of Emre Can, Mats Hummels, Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan and Mesut Ozil were given the nod by Germany boss Joachim Löw in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Didier Deschamps, meanwhile, opted for a 4-3-3, with Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe flanking Alexandre Lacazette in a dangerous attacking trident.

The matchup was viewed as a good opportunity for both countries to gauge their level ahead of next year’s World Cup in Russia, with the away side taking the lead through a splendid team goal after 33 minutes.

After all of Kylian Mbappe, Corentin Tolisso, Blaise Matuidi and Lucas Digne had played their part, Manchester United star Anthony Martial turned Niklas Süle inside out in Germany’s box, before unselfishly squaring to Alexandre Lacazette for a tap-in.

At the double

Germany pulled one back through Timo Werner in the 56th minute, after a perfectly-weighted through ball from Mesut Ozil.

But Lacazette was back at it again 15 minutes later, calmly slotting through the legs of the onrushing Kevin Trapp following a deft slide-rule pass from Kylian Mbappe.

Arsenal’s fans were quick to comment on the stellar showing of their big-money summer signing, with many pointing to the fact that he has fallen out of favour of late in North London, and unsurprisingly slating manager Arsene Wenger as a result:
