Arsenal fans slam Arteta as key defender limps out of Leeds United clash

Arsenal vs Leeds

Arsenal and Leeds United are currently playing out a last 16 League Cup outing at the Emirates.

With the Gunners not in any European competition this term, the League Cup represented just one of two competitions Arsenal can realistically win during the 2021/22 season.

And, so far, Arsenal are on course to make it into the quarter-finals. The north London outfit would dominate the first 45 but were unable to muster up any sort of meaningful attack.

However, Arsenal eventually found the breakthrough when Calum Chambers headed home from a Nicolas Pepe assist after 55 minutes.

Eddie Nketiah then made it 2-0 after 68 minutes.

Arsenal fans slam Arteta

It is not all rosy for Arsenal on Tuesday evening, however, as they have lost a key defender to injury.

Mikel Arteta did make a number of changes to his starting eleven against Leeds, with Ben White and Emile Smith Rowe the only survivors from the eleven that kicked off against Aston Villa last week.

Unfortunately for Arsenal though, Ben White would have to be taken off after 55 minutes with an injury:

It was goalscorer Chambers who came on for White. But despite taking the lead against Leeds, Arsenal fans are not happy with Arteta’s decision to start White – who has been arguably their best centre-back this term – against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Just some of the tweets aimed at Arteta for his White decision can be seen below:
