Supporters of Arsenal have lavished praise on goalkeeper Bernd Leno this evening, on the back of their victory over Manchester United.
Arsenal vs Man United
The Gunners welcomed United to the Emirates a short time ago, in a crunch clash in the race for a spot in the Premier League’s top-4.
Ahead of kick-off, United occupied the final of the English top-flight’s Champions League places. However, the Red Devils sat just a point clear of Arsenal.
In addition, Tottenham’s recent domestic blip, which culminated in the North Londoners falling to a 2-1 defeat at Southampton yesterday, had seen the race for 3rd blown wide open.
As such, both sides no doubt entered this evening’s clash aware that the outcome would eventually prove integral to their respective hopes of securing Champions League football for next season.
And, when all was said and done at the Emirates, a thoroughly-entertaining affair eventually culminated in Arsenal emerging with all 3 points.
Unai Emery’s men took the lead with just 12 minutes on the clock, when Granit Xhaka’s swerving drive from distance completely wrong-footed David De Gea.
12 – Arsenal’s only shot on target in the first half against Man Utd was Granit Xhaka’s goal in the 12th minute. They also scored with their only shot on target in the opening 45 minutes against them at Old Trafford in December. Copycats. #ARSMUN pic.twitter.com/Je8zQ7j3P5

Visitors United had chances, and, after Lukaku cracked the crossbar with the scores still level, Fred then went on to clip the post with 20 minutes on the clock.
Arsenal, though, stood firm, before eventually bagging their second of the evening 20 minutes from time.
After Alexandre Lacazette was adjudged to have been fouled by Fred in the United box, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stepped up to confidently sweep the ensuing spot-kick past David De Gea.
And that was all she wrote in terms of goalscoring, as Arsenal took a huge step towards restoring their place among European football’s elite, whilst denting the hopes of United.

And, on an evening where a number of Arsenal’s stars, particularly during the second-half, performed superbly, large sections of the Gunners’ faithful have since singled one player in particular out for special praise.
The individual in question is shot-stopper Bernd Leno, after the German produced possibly his finest performance in the club’s colours.
Leno looked absolutely unbeatable throughout proceedings at the Emirates, making a pair of last-ditch saves to keep Romelu Lukaku at bay, bursting off his line to act as a sweeper, and generally showcasing the type of leadership and assuredness that has so long been lacking between the posts on the red half of North London:
Has Leno absorbed De Gea’s powers?
