Alexis Sanchez endures ridiculously bad international break
Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez endured one of the worst international breaks ever.
Sanchez and his Chile team mates lost both games, to Bolivia and Paraguay, and are currently out of World Cup qualifying in South America.
It would be unthinkable that the double South American champions will not make Russia 2018.
Perhaps their consecutive summers of playing and an aged first team are starting to have an effect?
Move to Manchester City falls through
On a personal level, Alexis Sanchez left London for Chile in the hope he would return a Manchester City player.
So much so, that Manchester City had sent out medical officials to Chile to carry out a medical once terms were agreed with Arsenal.
The Gunners failed to land Thomas Lemar from Monaco on the final day of the summer transfer window and the Sanchez departure fell through.
Alexis is still very much the master of his own destiny with less than a year left on his Arsenal contract but was reportedly crushed by the transfer falling through.
Alexis Sanchez returns to Arsenal
The disappointing Chile results and return to Arsenal saw Alexis Sanchez post on Instagram two messages of defiance.
One was regarding Chile’s defeats and the other suggested he was committed to playing out his final season at Arsenal.
On Saturday, Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 and did not need Alexis Sanchez, who started on the bench.
Sanchez comes onto boos and cheers…
Goals from Danny Welbeck (2) and Alexandre Lacazette did the damage for Arsenal against a Cherries side that have lost all four matches so far.
Sanchez was introduced for Welbeck with 15 minutes to go, and the reaction from the Emirates crowd was mixed to say the least…
Whilst Danny Welbeck was cheered off, Alexis was given a big reception by the Arsenal tannoy man.
Yet, the cheers undoubtedly descended into boos…
