Arsenal fail with Jonny Evans bid

There is so much Arsenal transfer news right now that Gooners must not know where to turn.

But, that can only be down to Arsene Wenger leaving it late once again to get deals done in the summer transfer market.

Arsenal’s 4-3 home defeat to Liverpool has illustrated that the Gunners are short of cover in central defence and up front.

Mustafi, Gimenez or Evans?

On Wednesday, reports were rife that Liverpool had now entered the race for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and that the Gunners had turned their attention to Atletico Madrid for defender Jose Gimenez.

As it stands, Arsenal look set to play Rob Holding and Calum Chambers at the back at Leicester on Saturday. Laurent Koscielny is still feeling his way back from involvement at Euro 2016.

And, the likes of Per Mertesacker and Gabriel are out with long term injuries.

And, The Sun report that Arsenal will fail in their bid to sign West Brom defender Jonny Evans.

Gooners celebrate

Despite Evans emerging as a fine player at Manchester United who has gained plenty of Premier League and international experience, the Northern Ireland international is not the man Arsenal fans want.

The majority of the Twitter reaction to Arsenal’s failed bid for Evans from Gooners has been celebratory.

Which makes you wonder if Arsenal fans will ever be happy…
