As per a report from the Daily Mail, Arsenal are expressing an interest in the signature of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.
Konate, a 19-year-old central defender, made the move to Leipzig from French outfit Sochaux in the summer of 2017.
After playing a bit-part role for the Bundesliga giants en route to 16 league appearances last season, Konate has since gone on to establish himself as a vital cog in the backline of Ralf Rangnick’s side to this point in the current campaign.
The French U20-international has started in 16 of Leipzig’s 20 Bundesliga fixtures, helping his side to a spot in the German top-flight’s top-4 as things stand.
The powerful stopper, who stands at an imposing 6ft4, is highly-regarded in both Germany and his home country of France, with his stellar performances to this point in the season having led to links with a whole host of clubs across Europe.
And, as per the aforementioned report from the Daily Mail, one such side expressing an interest in Konate’s services are English giants Arsenal.
The Gunners are said to have had scouts present at a number of Leipzig’s recent fixtures to watch the youngster in action.
And, with the representatives from the North London outfit reported to have been impressed by what they witnessed, an Arsenal offer for Konate is expected to be forthcoming this summer.
Delighted to see Arsenal have been linked with CB Ibrahima Konaté in SportBILD today. He’s been as good if not better than Upamecano this season. Not as good on the ball as Upa but very strong in duels, and a great reader of the game. 6ft 4. Just 19. Worth an investment. #afc pic.twitter.com/4HKJxvBGa2

The Gunners are not the only Premier League club keen on the Leipzig stopper’s services, though.
Sport Bild (via ESPN) report that both Chelsea and West Ham United are also interested in Konate.
As such, a big-money bidding war for the Frenchman’s signature could well be on the horizon.
