Arsenal ‘essentially complete’ William Saliba deal & Celtic publicly reveal their Kieran Tierney transfer stance

Arsenal ‘essentially complete’ William Saliba deal

With a little less than a month to go in the summer transfer window, what’s going on at Arsenal?

Unai Emery has made just one signing to this point, in the form of Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli.

However, according to reports stemming from France, Arsenal’s deal to sign William Saliba is all-but done.

Mohamed Bouhafsi, who works for RMC Sport, has reported that “William Saliba to Arsenal is essentially complete.”

It’s believed that Arsenal will pay S.t Etienne 30 million euros for the defender.

Left blank in Mohamed Bouhafsi’s update was any note on whether Arsenal have agreed to loan Saliba back to ASSE in 2019-20.

The Evening Standard on Monday reported that the teenage centre-half will stay with St. Etienne on loan next season.

Celtic & Kieran Tierney

Celtic start their 2019-20 Champions League campaign today.

The Scottish champs will take on Sarajevo in the Champions League’s first qualifying round.

Ahead of the game, manager Neil Lennon has spoken about Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.

Tierney is a reported target of Arsenal and Napoli.

Will the defender still be at Parkhead at the start of the Scottish season? Lennon has said the following:

I have taken no notice of the headlines. I am well aware of where we are in terms of the situation.

I spoke to Kieran in Austria and, to be honest, I haven’t really seen much of him because he came back early for rehab, so has not been on the training ground as yet.

It can be an unsettling period for any player and that is understandable, but until a club comes up with any sort of realistic valuation of the player, we don’t have to do anything and we won’t.

Kieran is getting on with his rehabilitation and we are getting on with what we have to do here.

Tierney is in Celtic’s squad for the away trip to Sarajevo.
