Arsenal confident of extending Dani Ceballos loan beyond June – Standard

Uncertainty surrounds the transfer market

Arsenal are reportedly close to extending the loan of midfielder Dani Ceballos, with the Spaniard otherwise set to return to Real Madrid on June 30th.

The 23-year-old joined Arsenal last summer in a season-long loan deal.

Ceballos has managed 24 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions, despite some injury problems and falling out of favour under Unai Emery.

However, there is still uncertainty surrounding his future.

There has not been any indication as yet that Ceballos would make his loan move to Arsenal permanent.

COVID-19 has also caused the delay of the Premier League season, which could lead to potential issues with fulfilling his loan period.

Arsenal, though, are said to be confident of extending his loan past June 30th, when his time at the Emirates was originally scheduled to end.

Arsenal confident of agreeing Ceballos extension

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are ‘confident’ of agreeing a new loan deal with Real Madrid.

The new deal would see Ceballos remain at Arsenal past June 30th, should the Premier League not be concluded by then.

They claim: ‘Arsenal are relaxed about the situation as it relates to Ceballos and although no formal talks have as yet taken place, senior figures at the club believe Real will not oppose an extension.

With the uncertainty surrounding the league season, that is no doubt a positive for Arsenal.

But, as explained by the Standard, there is no option to buy Ceballos permanently this summer.

That reportedly came at the request of Ceballos himself, and could see the player return to Real Madrid after his extended loan.
