Arsenal are set to agree their second departure of the summer as Albert Sambi Lokonga closes in on a move to newly-promoted side Burnley, it has been reported.

The Gunners have already confirmed the permanent departure of Spanish defender Pablo Mari after his loan move to AC Monza was made permanent thanks to a clause in the deal, netting Arsenal a cool £6m in the process.

They are spending significantly already this summer, having signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a deal worth £65m and closing in on deals for both West Ham’s Declan Rice and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, which could cost a combined £150m.

Attention will now turn to sales, with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey, Rob Holding and Pepe all thought to be free to leave before the start of the new season, and Xhaka thought to be waiting on a potential move to Bayer Leverkusen.

One man who seems close to the exit door, however, is Albert Sambi Lokonga, with the loanee catching the eye of Premier League new boys Burnley.

Vincent Kompany, who masterminded their promotion back to the top-flight, was the man who recommended the Belgian midfielder to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta when he was initially signed from Anderlecht in 2021, but he has largely failed to live up to the praise during his time in an Arsenal shirt.

Now, as per the Sun, Vincent Kompany is keen on being reunited with his former star, and a move could well be on the cards.

It may be a loan rather than a permanent deal, with Arsenal looking to try and break even on the £15m that they paid for the Belgian, but having been long mooted, a move to Turf Moor could now be a real possibility.
