Arsenal ‘agree’ deal with Juventus

Arsenal & Juventus

Sky Sports have dropped a piece of transfer news on Monday claiming that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Juventus.

The focus of the transfer is Polish international keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Szczesny has spent the year on loan at AS Roma, and the Arsenal stopper has impressed in Serie A.

The Gunners stopper kept 14 clean sheets in Serie A  last season, which was the highest in the division above Napoli’s Pepe Reina and Juve legend Gigi Buffon.

Szczesny’s loan period is over at the end of the season, and a few weeks ago the goalie expressed a desire to return to the Emirates Stadium.

Deal is now ‘agreed’

But on Monday it’s become apparent that Szczesny is unlikely to return to the Gunners after all.

While some Arsenal fans believe he’s better than Petr Cech, Arsenal’s board seemingly don’t see things that way as they are gearing up to sell him to the Bianconeri. As reported by Sky Sports:

Juventus have agreed a deal in principle to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (around £14m) from Arsenal.

The Italian champions have reached agreement with the Poland international over a four-year contract worth £3.5m per season.

Will Szczesny even play in Turin?

You’d have to expect that Buffon will remain the Juve number one next season, even though he’s nearing 40.
