Arsenal add Brazilian midfielder to their wishlist amid hunt for reinforcements

Arsenal chase midfielders

Arsenal’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements has been well documented this summer, both in the attacking midfield role (no.10) and the deeper-lying role (numbers 6 and 8).

Further back, Dani Ceballos has returned to Real Madrid after a second loan spell, while Matteo Guendouzi has departed to Marseilles. Meanwhile, the Gunners have remained unclear regarding the futures of former captain Granit Xhaka, Uruguayan international Lucas Torreira and young Englishman Joe Willock, all of whom could yet depart north London.

This has led to Arsenal seeking alternatives, with Yves Bissouma, Manuel Locatelli and Ruben Neves among the names linked with a move to The Emirates Stadium. However, the club have seemingly been ruled out of a move for Locatelli, whilst Neves and Bissouma both remain at their respective clubs.

Bruno Guimaraes linked with a move

Today, however, a new link has been forthcoming, in the form of one with Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Arsenal had been rumoured to be eyeing a deal for his team-mate, Houssem Aouar, for much of the last 12 months, but have now turned their attentions towards the Frenchman’s fellow midfielder, if reports are to be believed.

Indeed, Goal’s Brazilian football expert Raisa Simplicio has reported that the Gunners have “added Guimaraes to their radar”

Arsenal previously attempted to sign the midfielder before he joined Lyon, and are thought to remain keen on the Brazilian, who played 33 times in Ligue 1 last season.
As per the report, however, Lyon will only consider offers above 35 million euros, keen to extract maximum value from their assets despite the club’s financial difficulty.
Is this the sort of deal which Arsenal should be pursuing?
