What Marko Arnautovic really thinks of Southampton & ex-Stoke boss Mark Hughes

West Ham 3 – Southampton 0

It was a brilliant weekend for West Ham.

Fearing the worst before kick off against Southampton, the Hammers claimed a huge win beating the Saints 3-0.

Southampton were appalling in the first half at the London Stadium, and the Irons took full advantage.

Inter Milan loanee Joao Mario opened the scoring, before Marko Arnautovic bagged a brace.

The win lifted West Ham to 14th, with 33 points from 31 games. The Hammers are five points clear of Southampton and the bottom three.

Arnautovic turned towards the Saints bench to flash the ‘Hammers’ sign at Hughes.

Hughes, of course, was in charge of the forward at Stoke City.

The pair are known to have not got on at the Bet365 Stadium, and earlier this season Hughes got angry with Arnautovic when West Ham won at Stoke.

What Arnautovic really thinks of the ex-Stoke boss

Following the Southampton game, Arnautovic opened up about what he really thinks about Hughes:

I respect Mark Hughes and what he’s done for me, but I heard some things when he was talking about me and they were not good things.

I’m only doing my job, and if I score against a Mark Hughes team it’s nothing personal. I try to score in every game and I don’t feel sorry for anybody. If we win and I score that’s fine, nothing else matters.

I don’t care what he says. Of course I’m grateful for what he did for me at Stoke when he was my coach, but if he wants to say bad things about me, that’s up to him. I perform on the pitch and I try to let my feet do the talking.
