Meet Camila Gallea
The story of 22-year-old Camila Gallea has started to spread in South America.
Gallea gave up a career in modelling to pursue her dream of making in the world of Argentine women’s football. And her big life choice decision is paying off, as she’s established herself in the River Plate team, while she’s also had recognition at the international level too.
So what happened?
Camila Gallea has explained why she swapped the runway for the pitch:
When I was 15 my mother wanted me to be a model, but I kept playing football anyway. I had my legs all scratched and bruised because of the sport and it was difficult to model. My life was in football and not on the catwalk.
Camila Gallea has previously been called up for the Argentine U20 side, but she had to withdraw due to injury.
She also began her career at Boca Juniors before joining River.
I had the opportunity (to join Boca), they offered me housing, food and transportation. I was there for a year and a half, but I could not make the team debut due to problems with the technical committee and the board of directors.
Now at River, who have won the women’s league 10 times in their history, Camila Gallea has established herself as a starter in defence.
