Argentina’s head coach Edgardo Bauza is expected to be sacked by the AFA imminently, according to latest media reports.
The decision comes on the back of Argentina’s latest defeat on Tuesday night.
La Albiceleste lost 2-0 in Bolivia, putting their chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in serious jeopardy.
Bauza’s side have won just two matches in their last seven, dating back to September 2016.
Argentina are currently fifth in the CONMBOL qualification standings following just six wins from 14 matches.
A fifth-placed finish would see the side advance to an inter-confederation play-off, while the top four sides qualify for the group stages of the Russian showpiece.
Argentina have four qualification matches remaining, but will have to play three of them without their all-time leading scorer and captain Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona forward was banned for four matches by FIFA just hours before the match against Bolivia for abusive language aimed at a match official.
