Antonio Rudiger on how Chelsea beat Man City but lost to Leicester

Chelsea 0 – Leicester 1

It was a bad weekend for Chelsea against Leicester City.

Jamie Vardy scored the only goal of the game early in the second half as Leicester won at Stamford Bridge.

After starting the season so well under new manager Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea have now collected three Premier League defeats.

First it was Tottenham. Then it was Wolves. And now the Blues lost to Leicester.

Chelsea are fourth in the division with 37 points. They are just above Arsenal on goal difference. Leicester are nine in the league with 25 points on the board.

Antonio Rudiger on beating Man City but losing to Leicester

German international Antonio Rudiger spoke to the BBC after the defeat to the Foxes.

Rudiger was asked to explain how Chelsea went from recently beating Man City at the Bridge to losing to Leicester.

With negativity pouring off his body, a despondent Rudiger found the question hard to answer:

It’s a good question. Maybe it is a lack of mentality, I don’t know.

We were not clinical enough and, er, yeah… stupid.

Chelsea’s title hopes are over

Antonio Rudiger expanded on his disappointment in a second post game interview with Sky Sports’ Gary Taphouse.

In that interview Rudiger made it clear he believes Chelsea’s title hopes were killed by Leicester.

For the record, Chelsea are 11 points behind Liverpool and seven points behind Man City.
