Updates on Chelsea’s Courtois, Christensen & Luiz ahead of Tottenham

Premier League champions Chelsea have this afternoon provided a brief update on the status of Thibaut Courtois, Andreas Christensen and David Luiz, ahead of the club’s crunch clash with Tottenham this weekend.

Matchup

The two sides are set to go head to head in a Premier League London derby on Sunday evening, with potentially-crucial ramifications in the race for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

As things stand, Spurs currently occupy the final Champions League place, with Chelsea sitting one place and five points adrift of their capital rivals.

As such, a win for Chelsea would see the Blues close the gap to just two points, whereas a victory for Tottenham would see the North Londoners open up a likely-insurmountable 8-point lead over Antonio Conte’s side.

Concerns

Mauricio Pochettino earlier today revealed a possible injury boost for Tottenham this weekend, confirming that Harry Kane is indeed ahead of schedule in his recovery from an ankle injury and could feature at Stamford Bridge.

However, there is worrying news on the injury front for hosts Chelsea, with the club having confirmed this afternoon that both Thibaut Courtois (hamstring) and Andreas Christensen (muscular fatigue) are in doubt to play on Sunday evening.

David Luiz, meanwhile, is still some way short of making his return to action from a knee injury:
