Antonio Conte speaks out on transfer meeting with Tottenham chiefs

Antonio Conte speaks out on transfer meeting with Tottenham chiefs

Tottenham vs Chelsea

Tottenham are set to play out their 3rd cup game in the space of just one week this coming Wednesday.

The Lilywhites will take on London rivals Chelsea in the second of two League Cup semi-final ties.

Chelsea head into the game boasting a very cosy advantage. Thomas Tuchel’s men welcomed Tottenham to Stamford Bridge last Wednesday for the first leg, and his Chelsea dominated throughout, coming away with a 2-0 win thanks to a Kai Havertz strike and an own goal from Ben Davies.

As a result, it looks as though it will take something of a miracle for Spurs to pull this one back.

Conte confirms transfer meeting

Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte held his pre-Chelsea press conference on Tuesday.

When speaking to the press, Conte was asked if he had given Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici – Spurs’ director of football – a list of players he wants.

Conte did not directly answer this question, but would speak out and confirm he had a meeting with the pair about transfers recently:

“First of all, we have spoken about the situation. It was a good meeting. A good meeting because the owner and Paratici, they started together this season from the start.

“I arrived in the middle of the season and for sure they know the situation much better than me. A good meeting, a good meeting to speak and tell them my thoughts about after two months I spent in Tottenham.

“It’s OK. After that I repeat, I can give a lot of a lot of work to clubs I worked at in the past and now I am working in the present. I can give this and then the decisions are for the club, not for me because the last word is always for the club.”
