Antonio Conte thinks there is no way back for Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge, and has made that very clear.
Now, despite already landing Alvaro Morata, the Blues boss reportedly told the board he wants to see Andrea Belotti come in and partner Alvaro Morata.
That means the Blues will have to spend more money this summer – and it also casts doubt on the future of Michy Batshuyai, who does not seem to have the trust of the manager – and the Star claim Conte is desperate to bring in Belotti in order to bolster his forward line.
At the start of the summer, both Chelsea and Manchester United were linked with the forward, yet after the moves of Morata and Romelu Lukaku, it seemed to go quiet on that front – but with Chelsea labouring and the manager looking increasingly to the board, with fans also demanding cash is spent, it seemed inevitable the links would reemerge.
Of course, in terms of Diego Costa, he has been told to return to the club, yet looks increasingly unlikely to do so, at least while Conte is manager.
Another thing Conte has made very clear is the fact that the club need to spend this summer, and wants more players to come in.
He has however rejected suggestions that he played a side set up to lose during the Community Shield, and was not in the right frame of mind for the start of the season.
The Chelsea manger is determined to see his side do well this season, and knows that he will lose his job unless that is the case – and while there are a huge amount of reports stating he is ready to leave, there are also those which claim he wants to stay at the club and does see a future there – as long as the board back him and bring in more players before the transfer window slams shut.
