Antoine Griezmann reveals where he wants to play after Atletico Madrid

Stateside

Antoine Griezmann has revealed where he hopes to play following his time at Atletico Madrid having signed a new deal with Diego Simeone’s side.

The Frenchman made a pretty big meal of his decision to stay in Madrid, creating a documentary on his life before announcing his decision at the end.

Many tuned in simply for the announcement but had to wait up to 45 minutes to find out the answer and that brought a bit of criticism upon him.

Regardless, he stayed at Atletico Madrid despite interest from Barcelona and will be hoping for some silverware with the side next season.

All planned out

Now, the player has revealed that he has his career all planned out already, despite his decision to stay at Atletico.

He has explained that once he has won the World Cup and the Champions League, he can go live out the rest of his career in the MLS.

“World champion, win a Champions League and then I can go and quietly play in the USA. That’s my ideal itinerary. It’s not bad, is it?” he explained speaking to  Le Figaro.

“If the plan goes like that, I’d sign for that now. I don’t know at which age I want to play in MLS, it’ll all depend on the trophies I’ll have won beforehand. When I’m nearer 32 or 33, I want to be there.”

When asked about winning the World Cup, it’s safe to say he is fully motivated to win the best possible trophy.

“Frankly, winning that competition with your country is the best thing possible. I want to finish my career with that trophy in my cabinet,” he continued.

“It’ll perhaps be this time, or the one after in Qatar. But I don’t want to finish my life as a footballer without that title among my honours. I think about it very often. It’s an obsession.”
