Anthony Martial to extend Manchester United contract
According to Spanish outlet RMC Sport, Anthony Martial is keen to extend his Manchester United contract, even if Jose Mourinho remains United boss.
The relationship between Mourinho and Martial has been scrutinised by some sections of the media and it was thought Martial would not stay at United if Mourinho did.
Martial’s current deal runs out in July of 2019 but it now seems that both Martial and United are keen for the Frenchman to extend his stay in Manchester.
Martial on his relationship with Jose Mourinho
Martial has also recently spoken out about his relationship with Jose Mourinho:
“Things were not tense between us to begin with [before the performance at Chelsea].
“We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that and bring Manchester United as much as possible.
“We were not doing well.
“However, we worked hard and this sort of match enabled us to show that we are a good team.
“We want to continue with another good game against Juventus on Tuesday.
“[The goals] have done me the world of good.”
Martial’s impressive form
Since arriving at Manchester United Anthony Martial has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot.
However, given his recent good form, he may finally be able to do so.
Martial would start in United’s game vs Newcastle.
Newcastle would take a 2-0 lead, but a second-half comeback would see Man United win 3-2 with Martial scoring one.
Martial was also very influential in Man United coming from behind vs Chelsea.
United looked a completely different side in the second half and their attacking threat was rewarded with two goals, both scored by Martial.
