Manchester United celebrate

Anthony Martial now odds on favourite to leave Man United this summer

Favourite to leave

Anthony Martial is now odds on favourite to leave Manchester United this summer.

The winger has been almost constantly linked with other clubs since the start of the transfer window, after a hard season under Jose Mourinho, who is no fan of the player.

Add to that comments made by Martial’s agent, claiming he would basically rather play under another manager – and that he does want to leave, and it was always going to be the case.

However, just when United’s board looked like holding firm and refusing to allow Mourinho to get rid, the player went AWOL after his partner gave birth to their baby – and now the odds for him to leave, and indeed to another Premier League side – have crashed.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Martial’s absence from United’s pre-season tour has clearly angered Mourinho, and it now looks as though the French star has played his last game for the club.”

Excuse

Martial has struck back, and said that for him, family will always come first and he will join up with United in the coming days – so at least Mourinho has an answer on when he will return.

That being said, United are thought to be fuming with his behaviour and Mourinho has not even bothered to disguise his anger at the player, meaning a route out of the club is very much on the table.

Martial himself has made it clear he wants to leave – and will know that despite a half washed Twitter explanation, he may have finally managed to engineer one for himself.
