Anthony Martial v Arsenal

Anthony Martial admits he’s got a ‘hard’ relationship with Jose Mourinho

Anthony Martial & Man United

It was a good international break for Anthony Martial.

The Man United star was recalled to the French national team for the first time in over a year, and Martial took his opportunity to impress.

He played 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Germany, and Martial bagged an assist.

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette put the finishing touch on a wonderful team goal for France in the first half, after Anthony Martial set up his compatriot with a classy assist.

For Man United this season, Martial has chipped in with six goals and six assists.

Jose Mourinho ‘is hard with me’

The French international has given a new interview to Premier League Productions, and he’s opened up about his relationship with Jose Mourinho.

Martial, who isn’t a regular starter for United, has said Mourinho is “hard with me”. Martial’s full quote was as follows:

He is hard with all of us and he is hard with me, there is no question.

I know that it is for my benefit, but I also know that he really likes me as a person so there is no issue about the discipline being for the wrong reasons.

Our objective, of course, is to have all of us in audition [training] and being fit to play every match, and that is what I’m hoping to do.

At the beginning, we didn’t know each other too well but over time we have gotten to know each other better.

He knows my strengths and he knows my weaknesses, such as they are, but the outcome is that we are learning to give everything in the right way.
