Andy Robertson sustained a calf injury vs Aston Villa & James Milner’s injury update before Brighton

Liverpool 2 – Aston Villa 0

Premier League champions Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds broke down the Villains with two second half goals.

Sadio Mane broke Villa’s resistance in the 71st minute, before sub Curtis Jones grabbed a second in the 89th.

Andy Robertson sustained a calf injury vs Aston Villa

Scottish left-back Andy Robertson was subbed out of the Villa game in the final seconds of the match.

Robertson was replaced by Neco Williams in the 94th minute.

On Monday, Robertson has revealed to Liverpool’s website that he sustained a “dead calf” against Villa. However the defender is optimistic he’ll be available for Brighton on Wednesday:

I’ve just got a bit of a dead calf just in the challenge with (Jack) Grealish with about 20 minutes to go, just a tangle of legs and I got a dead calf.

We’ll be good to go, it’s a hectic period (and) we need to keep as fresh as we can.

I’ll be good to go (at Brighton) and hopefully he (Jurgen Klopp) picks me and hopefully we can have another positive performance.

James Milner’s injury update before Brighton

Were Robertson to miss out against Brighton, Klopp’s go-to replacement at left-back would likely be James Milner.

However, Milner has been missing since he limped out of the Merseyside derby at Everton.

Following the Villa game, Klopp was asked about Milner’s fitness. Klopp replied:

Millie feels OK but it’s a little thing and we don’t want to take any risk.

When Millie says he feels something a little bit then we don’t go with any risk because he tends to ignore all the negative signs of his body!
