Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has this evening lavished praise on teammate Alisson, on the back of the Brazilian’s showing in the Champions League final versus Spurs.
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Jurgen Klopp’s men travelled to Madrid last Saturday night, for European football’s showpiece occasion.
Like opponents Spurs, the Merseysiders booked their spot in the Champions League final courtesy of a dramatic comeback.
After trailing 3-0 on the back of the first-leg of their semi-final tie with La Liga giants Barcelona, few gave Liverpool any chance of advancing beyond the Blaugrana.
However, a stunning display in the return-leg at Anfield eventually saw the Reds defy the odds to brush Ernesto Valverde’s outfit aside, courtesy of doubles from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum.
And, when all was said and done at the Wanda Metropolitano, the remarkable campaign enjoyed by the Merseyside giants culminated in a deserved title, as Liverpool put Tottenham to the sword by 2 goals to nil.
After Mohamed Salah put the favourites ahead from the penalty spot inside the opening 3 minutes, substitute Divock Origi sealed a memorable evening for all involved with the Reds with their 2nd in the game’s closing moments.

‘He’s the man’
While Liverpool, in the end, got the job done on Saturday night, their performance actually left a lot to be desired.
The trademark free-flowing breakaway football synonymous with the Merseysiders was largely-lacking throughout proceedings, with Klopp’s men having no doubt counted themselves lucky that Spurs also failed to perform.
A couple of the Reds’ stars, though, did impress.
Virgil van Dijk and Alisson were Liverpool’s standout performers in Madrid, with the latter’s stellar showing having been highlighted by the below statistic:

And one individual who was certainly impressed by Alisson’s performance versus Tottenham was Andy Robertson.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool’s official website this evening, Robertson gushed over his teammate’s talents, labelling the Brazilian’s latest display ‘an absolute joke’:
‘He’s the man, isn’t he?’
‘He’s the man. A lot was said about Ali when he first came, a lot of pressure on him. My God, he’s been unbelievable this season.’
‘[Against Spurs], it was an absolute joke the way he made the saves and everything.’
‘He was different class. It’s down to him that we kept a clean sheet.’
