Andy Carroll may re-sign for Newcastle & Joelinton’s transfer timetable revealed

Newcastle’s recruitment drive

With less than three weeks to go before the start of the Premier League season, Newcastle United are under pressure in the transfer market.

Not only have the club lost Rafael Benitez this summer, but arguably the club’s three best players last season – Salomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez and Mohamed Diame – have all left Newcastle too.

Could Andy Carroll return to Newcastle?

That rumour is splashed on the back pages of the Sunday People and Mirror on Sunday.

Andy Carroll is a free agent after his contract at West Ham expired at the end of last season.

Unfortunately for Carroll, his time at West Ham was blighted by injuries.

Over the five-and-a-half seasons with West Ham, Carroll only managed to record more than 15 Premier League starts once with the Hammers.

Last season proved particularly-disappointing, with the 30-year-old having managed just 7 league starts across the entirety of the campaign.

Newcastle’s Carroll concerns

So, will Newcastle offer Carroll a chance to continue his career in the Premier League? The Mirror report:

Newcastle are ready to hand Andy Carroll a lifeline – if the injured striker can get back to full fitness after an ankle operation.

Bruce is looking into the possibility of offering Carroll a pay-as-you-play deal in a bid to add some attacking options to his undermanned attack.

Joelinton’s transfer timetable revealed

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.

Last week, Germany’s Sport1 reported that Joelinton’s switch to St. James’ Park had hit a snag.

The problem was over the length of the proposed contract.

Newcastle want to sign the striker on a four-year deal.

Joelinton, though, only wants to pen a three-year contract.

However, Kicker now believe that there’s been a breakthrough in the transfer saga.

In an update on Sunday, Kicker’s readers are told:

Newcastle target Joelinton has already said goodbye at TSG Hoffenheim. The execution (of the transfer) is coming soon.

“We’re on the home stretch, but not over the finish line,” says (Hoffenheim’s) director of football Alexander Rosen.

Kicker say that Joelinton’s deal with Newcastle should be wrapped up on Monday.
