Following Andres Iniesta’s contract renewal, the question then turned to Lionel Messi’s renewal and there was an interesting quote from Iniesta.
The Spanish midfielder was speaking fresh from his new ‘lifetime contract’ when the question about Lionel Messi was posed.
The Argentine is yet to have signed a new contract despite the deal being announced back in June.
It turns out that the Camp Nou star had not actually 100% signed the deal, in fact he had only agreed a deal with the club.
With his current deal set to run out at the end of the season, it’s getting to the point where a Camp Nou exit is a possibility.
Now, both Barcelona fans and the clubs officials are starting to sweat on Messi’s future which could take an unexpected turn.
Manchester City have been linked with an audacious move for the Argentine in recent years with Pep Guardiola at the helm.
Though, a new deal for Lionel would no doubt rule out a move and it would mean he would be likely to stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career.
Now, Iniesta may well have given both the club and their fans an extremely positive hint.

Messi set to stay?
Speaking about his new deal, Iniesta started speaking about Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona and the comments are certainly positive.
“The club wants Leo to be here, he wants to be here. I hope that his story [at Barca] never ends,” he explained.
“He is unique, we can’t live without him and I think the club thinks the same way. It’s just a question of time, but I hope he renews as soon as possible.”
