Andre Gomes closing in on Goodison stay
Andre Gomes has reportedly struck an ‘economic agreement’ with Everton, ahead of a permanent transfer away from Barcelona this summer.
The Portuguese midfielder joined Everton on loan last season, following the permanent transfers of Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina.
Despite having had to overcome an injury before starting his season at Goodison, Gomes soon became a pivotal part of Marco Silva’s side.
The midfielder became a fan favourite, producing some pretty impressive performances.
However, there were other clubs looking to sway Gomes.
Now, it looks as though Everton will still get their man, despite a superior offer from West Ham.
West Ham’s superior offer gets them nowhere
According to Mundo Deportivo, Andre Gomes has reached an ‘economic agreement’ with Everton.
They also reaffirm that Gomes’ preferred destination is Goodison Park, despite interest from elsewhere.
The interesting section of Mundo’s report, though, indicates that West Ham were actually willing to pay Barcelona more than Everton are.
Their report claims that the Hammers ‘would offer between 25 and 30 million euros’, something which the Toffees are not willing to do.
However, they explain that West Ham ‘has not managed to seduce the footballer.’
With that in mind, it only looks like a matter of time before Andre Gomes returns to Everton.
