Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Man United
Could Man United see Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in action this weekend?
According to the Sun on Thursday, the Swedish superstar could make a shock return for Man United this weekend against Newcastle.
The Sun claim their Ibrahimovic update is an ‘exclusive’, as they tell their readers the following:
Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are back in full training with the Manchester United first team.
Now both players are pushing for a place on the bench against Newcastle on Saturday.
It’s unclear where the Sun are getting their optimism from.
Jose Mourinho spoke about Ibrahimovic on Wednesday night at Man United’s UNICEF gala event at Old Trafford.
While the Special One confirmed the striker should return soon, there was no mention of a return this weekend. Mourinho said:
As we expect, he’s reduced the timing of his recovering and, as we were saying a few weeks ago, he will be back in 2017, which is a magnificent recovery.
Phil Jones out v Newcastle
One Man United star who will miss the Newcastle game is Phil Jones.
Jones has been ruled out by Mourinho after the centre-half had to withdraw from the England squad.
Chris Smalling is likely to partner Eric Bailly at the heart of United’s defence against the Magpies.
Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick will be absent for Man United on Saturday.
As for Newcastle, they have injury doubts of Mikel Merino and Jamaal Lascalles. Christian Atsu could also miss the game through injury.
Meanwhile, Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara both returned to first-team training this week.
Rob Elliot is likely to feature, despite leaving the Republic of Ireland squad becasue of a family bereavement.
