Argentina & 2018 World Cup
Can Argentina win the 2018 World Cup in Russia?
The losing finalists in Brazil struggled to get in through the South American qualifiers.
But Leo Messi single-handedly dragged his country into the World Cup, and now they are amongst the favourites to win the competition.
Argentina kick off their World Cup campaign against Iceland, before taking on Croatia and Nigeria.
West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini & Everton’s Funes Mori
Argentina will soon compete in two big friendlies as Jorge Sampaoli figures out who will be in his squad. They take on Italy and Spain on March 23 and 27.
According to Argentinian news outlet TyC Sports, West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini and Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori will both be in the squad.
Both players have only just returned to action for Premier League club sides.
25-year-old Lanzini has only played 17 matches in the league this season. He’s scored three Premier League goals and chipped in with seven assists.
Ramiro Funes Mori, 26, has been sidelined since March last year with a serious knee injury. He tore his meniscus on international duty and had a second op in July after suffering a setback.
Man United’s Marcos Rojo
It’s also reported that Man United’s Marcos Rojo will be included in the Argentine squad.
Rojo has struggled with injuries this season at Old Trafford. And when Rojo was able to string a run of games together, he amazingly picked up five yellow cards in a row to earn a suspension.
