Amad Diallo comments appear to reveal winger’s stance on Man United future amid loan links

Diallo’s loan links

Amad Diallo would join Manchester United from Atalanta in last year’s summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old would spend much of his first season lining out for Man United’s under-23 side.

But he was still able to make eight senior appearances, and would score his first goal for the Red Devils in a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Europa League.

Given Diallo’s age, lack of first-team experience and the fact Man United have brought in Jadon Sancho this summer, it was not too surprising to see reports earlier this month suggesting that the Ivorian would leave United on loan this summer:

Diallo looking to stay at Man United?

However, if Diallo gets his way, it appears that he would rather stay put at Old Trafford this year.

Diallo would speak to Man United’s club media about his recent stint in the Olympics and when doing so, appeared to drop some hints over what he wants for his future this season.

Firstly, he stated that we (Man United) are working really hard to make sure they can reach their targets this year:

“The first training session back with the team gives you a great feeling, because I have been at home for two weeks [quarantining].

“Now I am back with the team, the team is in great shape and we are working really hard to make sure we can reach our targets this year.”

If Diallo wanted to leave on loan he could likely not be speaking about Man United’s targets for the year as his own.

Then, when speaking about the Man United fans vs Leeds, Diallo again suggested he plans to be around this campaign, stating that he is sure the fans will give them the support they need to do great things this seaosn:

“It was an incredible game. To go out and win the first game 5-1 – what better way to start the season.

“We had been looking forward to the fans being back at Old Trafford for a long time and it is incredible to have them back. I am sure that they will give us the support we need to do great things this season.”

And finally, Diallo spoke about training with top players like Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Man United’s new signings, stating that it is important for him to train with them and to learn from them – something he could of course not do whilst loaned out:

“It is incredible for me to train with players like we have, to see Bruno and Paul close up, it is really exciting. As a young player you can learn a lot from them, and they also help you out on the pitch.

“[The new players] are great players, great guys, and I am really happy to be training with them. It is important for me to train with them and to learn from them.”
