Big blow for the Spanish striker
Alvaro Morata has suffered an injury blow after he was forced off during Chelsea’s Europa League clash with FC Vidi with a suspected knee problem.
The Spanish striker has had a torrid time during his Chelsea career despite starting it in good form.
Morata signed from Real Madrid for what was a club-record fee at the time back in the summer of 2017.
Despite impressing initially, Morata has been a flop for the club and there are no ifs or buts about it.
He was even linked with a move away from the club in the summer but a move never came to fruition.
Instead, he decided to stay and force his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans.
While initially it looked as though he could save his Chelsea career, he is still struggling.
Now, his Chelsea nightmare is set to get even worse.
Serious looking knee injury
That is because the player suffered what looked to be a serious knee injury during the Europa League draw with FC Vidi.
It was a brilliant game for neutrals as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.
Vidi had initially taken a 2-1 lead before Olivier Giroud’s stunning free-kick brought the visitors level.
It was Giroud who came on for Morata late in the first half, the latter going down after landing awkwardly on his knee.

The injury certainly looked serious and Michael Owen even suggested at half-time on BT Sport that it looked like a Medial Ligament injury.
If that is the case, not only does it make Morata a doubt for the foreseeable future, any January transfer could now be off.
