Alvaro Morata ‘finished’ at Chelsea claims Jamie Carragher

Can Alvaro Morata turn it around at Chelsea?

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that Alvaro Morata is ‘finished’ at Chelsea and the club must sign a new striker.

The Spaniard has not had a positive Chelsea career so far since moving from Real Madrid.

Morata had impressed during his time with Juventus and failed to convince Madrid of a starting spot in the team after they exercised their buy-back clause.

Chelsea then signed the player for a club record fee and despite a positive start to his Stamford Bridge career under Antonio Conte, his form quickly dipped.

Since then, he has been trolled for many poor performances and struggled to be the top-class forward that Chelsea need.

Now, Jamie Carragher has claimed that the club should give up on the player and sign a top striker.

“They have to be looking now for a new option next season”

The former Liverpool defender has claimed that all of Chelsea’s title-winning teams have had a top forward.

Now, the club need to find another if they are to compete with Man City.

“The reality is I do not think that Morata will ever click at Chelsea, and I am sure the club think that too,” he explained in his Telegraph column.

“They have to be looking now for a new option next season.

“He is 26 and his career statistics tell you that he had not played many full seasons – 34 appearances in Serie A for Juventus in 2015-2016 is his highest league total. Chelsea cannot wait.

“With a first-rate striker this would be a team capable of challenging City. All Chelsea’s title-winning sides have had great strikers – Drogba or Diego Costa – and this team needs one desperately.”
