Newcastle 2 – West Ham 2
Newcastle were held to a 2-2 draw on Sunday at St James’ Park against relegation-strugglers West Ham.
Michail Antonio fired the Hammers into a 4th minute lead, however Miguel Almiron slid home Newcastle’s equaliser in the 17th minute.
Tomas Soucek scored his second goal in as many games as West Ham retook the lead in the 65th minute.
But West Ham’s lead was snuffed out two minutes later when Jonjo Shelvey drew the Magpies level for a second time.
Allan Saint-Maximin a doubt for Man City
Allan Saint-Maximin has been in magical form for Newcastle since the restart.
In the recent 4-1 win at Bournemouth, Saint-Maximin grabbed three assists in the game.
However, against West Ham, manager Steve Bruce subbed Saint-Maximin out of the match on 69 minutes. He was replaced by Valentino Lazaro.
In his post-match press conference, Bruce confirmed that ASM is a doubt for their match at Man City on Wednesday. Bruce said:
Unfortunately, I don’t think I could ask Allan to go again on Wednesday, that’s for sure.
SB: “Unfortunately I don’t think I could ask Allan to go again on Wednesday, that’s for sure. Our two, arguably, fittest players in Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden have both got hamstring injuries. They’re not serious but it’s two or three weeks which probably rules them out.” pic.twitter.com/E0AK2NSXFJ

Newcastle lose two players with hamstring injuries
Sean Longstaff got on the scoresheet for Newcastle in their win at Bournemouth.
However, moments after scoring his goal, Longstaff was replaced by Miguel Almiron.
Longstaff missed the West Ham match on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Isaac Hayden was subbed out the Hammers match for Nabil Bentaleb minutes before the break.
Manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Longstaff and Hayden could now be missing for several weeks. He said:
Our two, arguably, fittest players in Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden have both got hamstring injuries.
They’re not serious but it’s two or three weeks which probably rules them out.
Man City lose 1-0 to Southampton
Che Adams lobbed Man City’s Ederson to score a memorable winner on Sunday.
Southampton’s win moved them up to 13th in the league on 43 points.
Man City remain second in the standings.
