All the games Newcastle’s Callum Wilson is likely to miss following latest injury update

A nightmare start to 2021/22 for Newcastle has been made even worse by an injury blow to one of their key stars.

Newcastle’s nightmare start

Newcastle would begin their season by blowing a 2-1 lead to eventually lose 4-2 at the hands of West Ham.

This was followed by Aston Villa beating the Magpies 2-0 and Newcastle then crashing out of the League Cup in the 2nd round vs Burnley.

Bruce and co. did earn their first point of the season in their final clash before the international break when they drew with Southampton.

However, they would then face off with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United over the weekend and were well and truly dominated.

Man United ran out eventually 4-1 winners to go joint-top of the Premier League, whilst Newcastle are languishing in 19th place with just one point from four games.

Wilson blow

Newcastle would have to face off with United without the services of their top scorer, Callum Wilson.

Wilson, who picked up a thigh injury vs Southampton last month, was ruled out of the United game by Bruce on Friday.

And now, as mentioned above, a fresh update on the situation makes for grim reading for Newcastle.

As per The Athletic, Newcastle face the prospect of being without Wilson until after the October international break:

Newcastle United could be without their top scorer Callum Wilson until after the October international break, in yet another blow to Steve Bruce’s beleaguered side

It is added that though Bruce has refused to put a timescale on Wilson’s return, he is unlikely to feature against Leeds United, Watford and Wolves.
