Alisson fears dispelled after Liverpool star absent from group training ahead of Real Madrid

Alisson fears dispelled after Liverpool star absent from group training ahead of Real Madrid

Concerns over the fitness of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson have been dispelled this evening, after the Brazilian was absent from the club’s latest group training session.

Blancos on top

Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course set to return to action tomorrow night.

The Premier League champions will play host to Real Madrid, in the 2nd of two Champions League quarter-final showdowns.

As things stand, it is of course Los Blancos who boast the advantage, on the back of a dominant victory in the Spanish capital last week.

A Vinicius Jr. double, either side of Marco Asensio’s finish, eventually saw Zinedine Zidane and co. emerge on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline.

Mohamed Salah’s close range finish early in the 2nd-half, though, ensures that Liverpool – not at all unfamiliar with spectacular European comebacks – remain very much in the hunt for a semi-final berth.

Alisson latest

In turn, it no doubt came as a major source of concern for the Reds faithful when, just over 24 hours prior to their side welcoming Real to Merseyside, hints at an injury picked up by one of the club’s key performers began to spread online.

The player in question came in the form of shot-stopper Alisson.

After photos of the latest training session held by Jurgen Klopp and co. surfaced, it quickly became clear that the club’s no.1 was not involved.

Any fears that this may have been due to a fitness problem, however, have since been firmly dispelled.

As per a report from the reliable Liverpool Echo, there is ‘no problem’ with Alisson, who is set to feature from the off on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian is likely to have simply been involved in an individualised training programme, alongside Liverpool’s other goalkeepers.
