Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez has been the talk of the town on Wednesday and his agent isn’t happy about it one bit.
That is because the player has been accused of tax fraud today and has received a punishment of 16-months in prison.
Though, that sentence has been suspended and will likely not face any jail time.
This comes following his time at Barcelona in which a number of players have been accused of tax evasion.
Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o, Adriano and Javier Mascherano have all also been embroiled in issues with the Spanish tax man.
Real Madrid have also had the same issues, with Cristiano Ronaldo by far the most high profile case.
Now, Alexis’ agent has responded to the punishment and admitted that they made an ‘unfair agreement’ with the tax man.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the agent explained that Treasury in Spain is applying pressure on players to make them sign unfair deals and make the problems go away.
This supposedly includes leaking information to cast a public eye on big figures such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The statement claims that this causes a pressure element and forces players to have no choice but accept these deals.
The claims carry on and explain that more players and more managers will continue to go this sort of thing, claiming that there is nothing wrong with what they have done.
Not only that, they claim despite showing Alexis had done nothing wrong, they were simply advised to just take the deal.
Safe to say, we will be hearing plenty more stories like this in the future.
