Alexis Sanchez celebrates v Southampton

Will Alexis Sanchez play for Arsenal vs Crystal Palace?

Alexis Sanchez vs Crystal Palace

Last weekend, after Arsenal were beaten 2-1 at Bournemouth, Arsene Wenger claimed Alexis Sanchez’s future would be sorted within 48-hours.

Like so many things at Arsenal in recent times, that deadline came and went without a conclusion in the matter.

Of course the rumours are still pointing to Man United signing Sanchez this January.

In the back pages of the English press on Thursday were full of reports of just how much money the Chilean will earn at Old Trafford.

Yet, the fact remains that Sanchez is an Arsenal player, while this weekend the Gunners take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Will Alexis Sanchez play against the Eagles?

Arsene Wenger on Man United’s transfer

On Thursday Wenger met the press. On Alexis Sanchez playing against Crystal Palace, and Man United’s attempts to close the deal, the Arsenal boss said the following:

It is a story that is well documented. I am not to add to that. It can happen, it can as well not happen – it is at that stage. If it doesn’t happen he will play on Saturday.

I work on transfers for 30 years, it is likely to happen but at any moment things can breakdown.

Mkhitaryan to Arsenal

Wenger was also asked about Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move to Arsenal from Man United.

On Thursday morning reports out of Armenia claimed Mkhitaryan has agreed a four year deal with the Gunners.

Wenger has boosted belief the Mkhitaryan deal is close to completion saying:

As long as it is not over the line you have to accept it could not happen.

My understanding, yes. If it is a possibility it is because I like the player. We played many times against him at Dortmund and he appreciated the quality of our game and the way we play.

The wages (for Mkhitaryan) would not be a problem. This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other. Are we still in the transfer market after that, yes.

Moves for Bordeaux’s Malcom

In bad news for Arsenal fans, Wenger has also cast doubts over moves for Malcom this January.

In a short, sharp statement, the Gunners boss said: “I don’t think we are close to doing that.”

Aubameyang & Jonny Evans

And what about January moves for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jonny Evans?
