Alexandre Lacazette tips Arsenal teammate Pepe to kick on following Newcastle display

Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has revealed his opinion that the club’s fans are set to see ‘a really good’ version of Nicolas Pepe, on the back of the Ivorian’s match-winning performance versus Newcastle United.

Arsenal dominate

Mikel Arteta’s men welcomed the Magpies to the Emirates yesterday evening, for a Premier League clash.

Arsenal headed into proceedings desperate to get back to winning ways, on the back of 4 straight draws in the English top-flight.

And, when all was said and done in north London, secure a long-overdue 3 points was precisely what the Gunners managed.

On the back of a goalless first-half, Arsenal exploded into life following the interval, eventually going on to find the back of the net 4 times.

All of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette were on the scoresheet, securing a morale-boosting 3 points for Arteta’s outfit.

‘See a really good Nicolas Pepe’

Evidently, based on the scoreline, a number of Arsenal’s stars thoroughly impressed versus Newcastle.

Chief among these, meanwhile, was Nicolas Pepe.

Arsenal’s record signing embodied his side’s 2nd-half improvement, racking up a goal and 2 assists amid a fine display.

Many have subsequently claimed that yesterday marked the best that Pepe has looked in the colours of the Gunners, with one of the African’s teammates having since tipped Pepe to kick on, and continue to impress.

Speaking after rounding out the scoring at the Emirates, Alexandre Lacazette explained:

‘I used to say we need to be patient with him. He is still young, he came from another league and it is always different. ‘

‘The Premier League is the hardest league in the world I think, so you have to be nice with new players like him.’

The Frenchman continued:

‘He is someone who needs confidence and when you give him confidence he is better. He just needs time to understand how the league is and now we can see a really good Nicolas Pepe.’
