The former Arsenal midfielder had been sidelined for over a year.
Will the Ox regain his form and manage to crowbar his way back into the England setup?
Liverpool are set to give Oxlade-Chamberlain a massive boost by agreeing to extend his current Anfield deal. The Times announce:
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be handed a contract extension as Liverpool show faith in the midfielder after a year out injured.
His contract is due to expire in 2022 but will be lengthened by a year.
The Ox will be in Liverpool’s Champions League squad against Barcelona this midweek.
Roberto Firmino vs Barcelona
Will Roberto Firmino be fit for the Barcelona clash at the Camp Nou on Wednesday?
Firmino missed the Huddersfield match through injury. However the Times indicate that the Brazilian is on course to return against the Catalans:
The Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino will hope to take some part in training today as he seeks to prove his fitness following a groin problem ahead of tomorrow’s fixture.
In the event Firmino doesn’t make it, Daniel Sturridge could start in Liverpool’s attack.
For the record, the Times made no mention of rumours which spread on Monday that Mohamed Salah may have picked up an injury in training.
That’s an indication that Salah is perfectly healthy and those reports appear to have been wrong.
