Arkadiusz Milik

Alert Man City: Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik nightmare injury

SPAL 2 – Napoli 3

Napoli moved into first place in Serie A over the weekend following a 3-2 away win at SPAL.

The win took Napoli above Juventus on goal difference. Both sides have 18 points after six straight wins at the start of the season.

Pasquale Schiattarella gave SPAL a shock lead but Lorenzo Insigne equalised.

Jose Callejon headed Napoli ahead before Federico Viviani curled in a free kick to put Napoli 3-1 up.

Faouzi Ghoulam set up a nervy ending with a late goal for SPAL.

Arkadiusz Milik’s nightmare injury

But Napoli’s win came at a giant cost.

Polish international striker Arkadiusz Milik was forced out of the game in the 70th minute.

On Sunday the bad news has filtered through. Milik has suffered another ACL tear.

Milik is set for surgery on Monday.

Of course, this is not the first time the striker has had an ACL setback. Last season Milik missed almost six months of action after an ACL injury while on international duty.

The only good news for Milik this time around is that the injury against SPAL was on his other knee.

Champions League & Man City

Napoli have been drawn in Man City’s Champions League group this season.

Man City started their campaign with a 4-0 away win against Feyenoord.

Napoli lost their opener away at Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1.

Man City are set to host Napoli on match three of the competition at the Etihad.

If the Sky Blues can beat Shakhtar this midweek, and follow that up with a win over Napoli, they’ll be virtually qualified for the knock out phase of the competition.
