Albania vs Wales betting tips: International friendly match preview & predictions

Albania vs Wales prediction: Albania 0-3 Wales

A chance for these two sides to experiment at the Elbasan Arena.

Both suffered UEFA Nations League disappointment over the weekend but will be looking to build ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifiers commencing in March.

Who’ll look in better shape?

Gareth Bale: Wales' all-time top goal scorer

Albania vs Wales: Who will win?

Albania, despite being the home side, are 5/2 to win.

Wales are 23/20 to sign off 2018 with a victory.

A draw is 21.10.

Wales are 9/4 to win and keep a clean sheet.

Over 2.5 goals is 11/8.

Rangers’ Eros Grezda was Albania’s most threatening player on Saturday. He’s 17/2 to score first and 3/1 to net anytime.

Tyler Roberts is still searching for his first Wales goal. The Leeds forward is 11/2 to break the deadlock and 2/1 to score in 90 minutes.

Both Roberts and Harry Wilson to score is 12/1.

Albania vs Wales: Match preview

Albania’s Nations League campaign has been a disappointment especially after such a bright start.

They beat Israel 1-0 way back in September to get off to the perfect start.

However, back to back defeats followed.

A 2-0 reverse at Hampden to Scotland and then a defeat by the same scoreline in Be’er Sheva to Israel left them bottom of the group.

On Saturday night, they hosted Scotland but were turned over 4-0 to ensure they’d finish bottom of League C1.

However, despite finishing last, it’s unlikely they’ll be relegated as the lowest ranked third-placed side.

Nevertheless, that form could cost Christian Panucci his job and this might be the former Italian defender’s final game in charge.

Wales too ended their Nations League campaign on a somewhat bitter note.

They hammered the Republic of Ireland 4-1 in Cardiff back in September before beating them 1-0 in Dublin a month later.

However, the other side in the group Denmark proved too strong.

Wales went down 2-0 at Idrætspark in September and on Friday were beaten 2-1 by Denmark to ensure that Wales would finish second in League B4.

However, Ryan Giggs can certainly take the positives into the Euro 2020 qualifiers which begin in March.

Can they end 2018 with a win?

Albania team news vs Wales

Albania may well use this game to give some players who don’t have very many caps a chance.

Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is his countries number 1 now but this’ll be only his ninth appearance.

Captain Mërgim Mavraj was sent off in the defeat to Scotland on Saturday.

Even though his suspension does not apply to this game he might be left out anyway.

Ardian Ismajli could win only his second cap.

Basel’s Taulant Xhaka is the only Albanian who managed to score a Nations League goal this season.

But their most dangerous player against Scotland was a man who plays in Scotland; Rangers’ Eros Grezda.

They have another SPFL player in their ranks.

Egli Kaja is on loan at Livingston and will be hoping to make his international debut.

Bekim Balaj is the squads top scorer with just 4 international goals.

This just shows the extent of their goalscoring problems.

A team with not much quality and one Wales should be too good for.

Ryan Giggs too will ring the changes with many of his big stars unlikely to travel to 2,757 miles to Elbasan.

Danny Ward, who is still waiting to make his Premier League debut for Leicester, could win only his fifth Wales cap in goal.

Tom Lockyer too will be hoping for his fifth cap.

Alongside him their could be a debutant.

James Lawrence, who’s had a peculiar career playing in Slovakia for Trenčín and now in Belgium with Anderlecht, could make his Wales debut in this match.

At the other end of the experience spectrum is Chris Gunter.

If he features, he’ll break Neville Southall’s 21 year-old appearance record and move onto 93 caps.

Matt Smith, who’s on loan at Dutch second division club FC Twente will parter Ethan Ampadu in midfield.

The latter has not played a single minute of senior football for Chelsea this season despite impressing for Wales.

It’s unlikely that Joe Allen, Aaron Ramsey or Gareth Bale will feature which’ll allow young talents to shine.

Harry Wilson scored the winner in Dublin and could get his third international goal in this one.

Tyler Robers would love to get his first but, against a side who ship a lot of goals, he’ll be hopeful of doing just that.

A glimpse into the future for Wales fans?

If so, the future looks bright for Giggs’s side.
