Alan Shearer on Man City after Chelsea win
Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has used his weekly column in the Sun to focus on Man City after they beat Chelsea 1-0.
Man City are top of the Premier League after seven matches. They are ahead of Man United on goal difference.
The bulk of Shearer’s article is spent on Man City keeper Ederson.
For Shearer, Ederson is proving to be a roaring success this season at the Etihad Stadium.
The talking head argued that Pep Guardiola picked up the perfect stopper in the summer, and Ederson’s impact on the Sky Blues is already telling:
City spent £34.9million on Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson to try and solve the problem and already it seems to have done just that.
After seven league games last season they had one clean sheet and had conceded seven goals.
At the same stage this term they have five clean sheets and have let in just two.
Bashes Sergio Aguero
But while Shearer waxed lyrical over Ederson, the pundit was far less generous when talking about Sergio Aguero.
On Friday morning news broke that Aguero had been involved in a car crash in Amsterdam.
Aguero was in the Dutch capital to watch a music concert.
The Argentine striker broke a rib in the incident. But, for Shearer, he has little sympathy for the Man City striker:
What on earth was he doing at a concert in Amsterdam on Thursday night when he had training back in Manchester the next day? It was his day off and you should spend it at home resting.
Guardiola has not publicly criticised him but inside he must be fuming.
