Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Inter Milan have finally found an agreement with Tottenham over the January transfer of Christian Eriksen.
The story surrounding the future of Danish international Eriksen has proven one of the talking points of English football for some time now.
The gifted midfielder has long stood as one of Tottenham’s key performers, since his arrival from Ajax in the summer of 2013.
The last 4 Premier League campaigns combined, including last season, saw Eriksen directly contribute to a hugely-impressive 83 goals.
However, despite his crucial role in Spurs’ midfield ranks, and the club’s best efforts, to this point, Eriksen has refused to put pen-to-paper on a new deal in north London.
The 95-time capped international’s current contract is set to expire in the summer.
Inter strike deal
As such, speculation surrounding a potential Spurs exit for Eriksen has inevitably been forthcoming.
The Dane was hotly-tipped to depart the English capital last summer, when Real Madrid proved the outfit most persistently-touted as a potential destination.
In the end, however, Los Blancos evidently failed to meet Tottenham’s demands.
But, with less than 6 months remaining on his deal at present, the opening of the January transfer window has since resulted in the rumours surrounding Eriksen’s future reemerging in force.
This time around, though, another club have emerged as the outright front-runners for the Spurs man’s signature.
The outfit in question? Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri have been hotly-tipped to land Eriksen this month, as Antonio Conte seeks out mid-season reinforcements amid his side’s push for the Scudetto.
And, as per the aforementioned report from the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter finally look set to land their man.
The Sky Italia reporter stops short of revealing any financial details, but simply states that an agreement has been reached between those in charge at the San Siro, and their Spurs counterparts:
