‘Agent Michy’ – Chelsea fans laud Batshuayi for boosting club’s Champions League hopes vs Everton

‘Agent Michy’ – Chelsea fans laud Batshuayi for boosting club’s Champions League hopes vs Everton

The Chelsea faithful have taken to social media in numbers this evening, to heap praise on on-loan hitman Michy Batshuayi.

Rodriguez’s strike not enough

Batshuayi was back in action a short time ago, as Crystal Palace made the trip to Goodison Park for the gameweek’s penultimate Premier League fixture.

Hosts Everton headed into proceedings with much more riding on the outcome of the clash, with the Toffees of course in the thick of the European battle, whilst Palace sit comfortably in mid-table.

In turn, the Blues were viewed as widespread favourites to bag all 3 points ahead of kick-off.

When all was said and done, however, despite carving out much the better of the opportunities over the course of the 90 minutes, Ancelotti and co. were forced to settle for a point.

Everton did take the lead in the clash early in the 2nd-half, when James Rodriguez picked out the near bottom corner courtesy of a pinpoint right-footed strike:

Profligacy on the part of both Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, however, ultimately cost the home side, as substitute Michy Batshuayi levelled things up late on.

Just minutes after being introduced off the bench by Roy Hodgson, the Belgian hitman was picked out on the left side of the Everton box, to slot coolly beyond Robin Olsen for a share of the spoils.

Palace’s point means that the Eagles now sit just two points shy of the magic 40-point mark, with a full 8 games to play.

For Everton, on the other hand, another disappointing result leaves the Merseysiders on the outside looking in at the top-6, having now managed just a solitary point from the club’s last 3 league outings.

And one fanbase who appeared to derive particular enjoyment from the latest collapse on the part of tonight’s hosts are those of a Chelsea persuasion.

This comes with the Blues of course also locked in a tense battle for Champions League football at present.

In turn, the identity of Palace’s goalscorer – in the form of on-loan Chelsea hitman Batshuayi – proved particularly sweet, with the Pensioners faithful having since flooded to social media to laud their secret ‘agent’:
