According to a report from Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers have seen a substantial offer for AC Milan attacker Andre Silva rejected by the Italian giants.
Silva, who only arrived at the San Siro from Porto for a hefty 40 million Euro fee this summer, is widely considered as being one of the most promising young talents in world football.
Despite being just 22 years of age, he has notched a hugely impressive 11 goals in 18 appearances for the Portuguese national team, and has received the honour of being named as Cristiano Ronaldo’s heir for the Selecção by the Real Madrid star himself.
Serie A switch
Silva racked up 16 goals and 5 assists in the league for Porto last season, with a number of Europe’s top clubs having expressed an interest in his signature over the summer.
However, Milan were seemingly the only club willing to meet the Dragão outfit’s steep valuation of their star man, with Silva having made the switch to the rebuilding Italian giants in June.
Despite having spent around 200 million Euro on new recruits over the course of the transfer market, though, the Rossoneri have struggled to meet expectations this season, and currently sit in a hugely disappointing 11th-place in the Serie A table.
Silva has been one of a number of summer recruits to fail to live up to his billing at the San Siro, and has actually only managed 4 league starts all season.
Several European heavyweights are known to be keeping an eye on the situation of the gifted youngster in Italy, with a view to a possible summer bid.
But, in one of the more surprising stories of the winter transfer window so far, an offer has reportedly already arrived for Silva, on behalf of English Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have enjoyed a stellar campaign to this point, and currently sit a full 12 points clear at the top of the Championship table.
But, as per several reports in Italy, the Molineux club are far from ready to sit on their laurels, and tabled a massive £34.7 million bid for Andre Siva earlier today.
The offer was rejected, but Wolves are expected to return with a second bid, with the possibility remaining that Milan could cut their losses and part with Silva following his underwhelming start to life with the club.
